Andrew Wachtel is a scholar and translator. He has published widely on various aspects of Russian and East European literature, including the books The Battle for Childhood: Creation of a Russian Myth and An Obsession with History: Russian Writers Confront the Past (both Stanford University Press). He has also translated much contemporary Russian poetry with the largest selection appearing in the anthology The Third Wave: The New Russian Poetry (University of Michigan Press).
