Helena Van Brande graduated from Princeton University with a degree in comparative literature and minors in creative writing and environmental studies. In addition to translating, she writes poetry and nonfiction, and recently made her literary debut with the publication of her poem “No bedtime story” in the journal Tiny Seed. She currently lives in Lakeview, Oregon.

Sabine Schiffner, born in Bremen in 1965, is a German poet. She is the author of four collections of poetry, including Besteck im Kopf (Emons). She has also published a novel and translates works from Spanish and Catalan into German. She is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including the Jürgen-Ponto-Preis and the Preis der Deutschen Schillerstiftung.
