Lindsay Hill has published six books of poetry including, most recently, The Empty Quarter (Singing Horse Press). His first novel, Sea of Hooks, from which this excerpt is taken, will be published by McPherson & Company in November 2013. He has produced a series of recordings of innovative writing under the Spoken Engine label, and he coedited the literary journal Facture. Born in San Francisco, he now lives in Portland, OR.
